What requirements are necessary to purchase a startup ticket?
Startups are understood as young, not yet established and recently founded companies with innovative business ideas (often in the fields of electronic business, communication technologies or life sciences). Basically, we want to give startups in all phases of founding the possibility to participate at the RuhrSummit. What matters is quality, not your status of founding. When applying, you’ll score most of all with clear ideas and a recognizable USP.
What’s in the Startup-Ticket?
You will receive the Startup-Ticket for free after you applied successfully. It includes the following:
- Startup-Ticket for up to 4 founders
- Access to the conference
- Access to the Rooftop Party
- the option to participate in the Pitch-Competition (application form)
- the option to participate in the Investor/Cooperate Match-Making (application form)
- Pub Crawl
How do I get a Startup-Ticket and what does it cost?
The Startup-Ticket is free and will be send to you via email if you applied successfully. You have time to apply until one month before the event. You can apply here. We wish you good luck!
How many people can participate in the event with one Startup-Ticket?
Up to four founders can participate in the RuhrSummit 2017. Please list all participants during the application process.
I just want to come for one day. Are there discounts?
All Tickets are valid for both days of the event and all their content. It is not possible to book components separately, for example just one day or a sub-event.
Do I need to purchase an extra ticket to participate in the ImpactSummit and InternationalSummit?
The purchase of another ticket is not required. The ticket is valid for both days of the event and all the sub-events of the RuhrSummit.
What workshops will take place and when?
All information about the offered workshops can be found on the Agenda. Please note that, up until the event starts, these are subject to change. It’s worth checking it out occasionally.
How can I sign up for the Match-Making-Sessions?
During the application-process for the free Startup-Ticket you can sign up for the Match-Making (Speed Dates). You have time until one month before the event. We will do our best to put you together with fitting investors and companies so you’ll get the chance to inspire them for your startup. However, please understand that it is possible that there is no fitting match for you. If you’re lucky and we can bring you together with a fitting counterpart, we will contact you via email to inform you about the next steps.
Can I apply for the Match-Making-Sessions after I already completed the sign-up?
Yes. Please send us a mail at startups@summit.ruhr at least a month before the RuhrSummit 2017 with the following information:
- Name of the startup
- Date of the application
However, please consider carefully at the registration process if you want to take part in the Match-Making of not, so we can guarantee that the Match-Making goes smooth
Can I choose my counterpart for the Match-Making?
No, the RuhrSummit takes care of the Match-Making based on the topic, the branch and the maturity of the startup. Please trust that we will find the best counterpart for you.
When and where do the Match-Making-Sessions take place?
All information about the Match-Making-Sessions can be found on the Agenda. Please note that, up until the event starts, these are subject to change. It’s worth checking it out occasionally.
How do I apply for the RuhrPitch?
During the application process for the free Startup-Ticket you can apply to participate in the RuhrPitch. You have time for that until one month before the event. Show us why specifically you should take part in the Pitch and why we should choose you for one of the highly desired 18 spots in the qualification. In case you successfully applied, we will inform you via email about the next steps.
Can I apply for the RuhrPitch after I already completed the sign-up?
Yes. Please send us a mail at startups@summit.ruhr at least a month before the RuhrSummit 2017 with the following information:

If you convinced us and thereby successfully qualified for the Pitch Competition, we will inform you about the next steps via email until at least one month before the event.
How will the RuhrPitch proceed?
The RuhrPitch starts with 18 startups in the Qualification-round, which were assigned to begin with by us to three Qualifiern (Social entrepreneur, Early of Stage startup, Accelerator of startup) (Pitch in German). The best two startups from each qualifier are qualified for the semi-finally. The other participants are six startups from all continents which went through their own qualifying rounds. We see the best six startups then as a highlight and end of the RuhrSummits on the big stage! (Pitch in English).

What qualifiers are there and whom was I assigned?
Before the RuhrPitch 2017’s qualifying-round, the participating startups will be assigned one of the following 3 qualifiers:
- Social Startups
- Early Stage Startups
- Accelerator Startups

If you are chosen for the Pitch-Competition, you will receive an email about your assignment and the next steps.
Am I a Social Startup?
You belong here if your companies goal is to solve a social or ecological problem while making a profit.
Am I an Early Stage Startup?
Early Stage Startups are in the early stage of investment. The idea exists and the founded company. You belong here if you have not passed the Series-A financing round. That is the phase in which the business model goes live or has already gone live.
Am I an Accelerator Startup?
The Startup-Pitch “Accelerator Startups” is an exclusive access to the startups by:
- Starbuzz
- Work Digital Accelerator Dortmund
- Gründer-Stipendium of the Hubs Münster & Ruhr Valley
- Ignition Program of the Hub Duesseldorf

Is it possible to rent a stall at the RuhrSummit?
Stalls are available for premium-partners and for a fee only. Through this, amongst others, we are able to create the event with its possibilities of establishing connections and its diverse offerings for free to you, the startups. According to our experience, a personal talk during the event and the Rooftop-Party is best for exchanging experiences and potential collaborations.

Provided you are no startup, student, investor or entrepreneur, the Participant-Ticket is for you. As an enrolled student, you can purchase the discounted Student-Ticket.

What parking facilities are available?
We recommend you use the car parks in the Brinkhoffstrasse 4 at the Dortmunder U, in the Schmiedingstrasse (Dresdner Bank/Westdeutsche LB, ca. 200m linear distance) and at Dortmund’s Central Station ca. 800m linear distance).

Who is behind the RuhrSummit?
The RuhrSummit is being organized by three initiators – Ruhrgruender.de, Initiativkreis Ruhrgebiet and 360 Online Performance Group. All come directly from the startup scene or are close to it. We can fall back on a big network of partners and supporters, above all the Social Impact Lab in Duisburg (co-founder of the Impact Summit) and the IHKs in the Ruhr Valley (co-founders of the InternationalSummit).
